Summer Employment Program
The primary goal of the Summer Employment Program is to work in collaboration with two vendors, Chicopee Housing Authority and the Regional Employment Board. This collaboration helps provide a structured, well supervised work experience for low income, at-risk youth ages 14-21.
Youth ages 14-17 must have a valid work permit. Also, all youth must complete a Work Readiness Training once chosen for a position.
The program will provide a structured, well supervised, educational yet entertaining environment for low income at-risk youth ages 6-13 residing in Chicopee's Federal Housing Complex. While at summer camp children will participate in such activities as Field Trips, Educational Component (Mad Science), Kung Fu, Zumba, Hip Hop Dance classes, daily walks, arts & crafts, and swimming.
The eligibility guidelines for the Cabot Manor Summer Work Program and Summer Camp are as follows:
- Must live in Federal Housing of Chicopee Housing Authority (both programs)
- Be ages 5-13 (Summer Camp)
- Be ages 14-21 (Employment Program)
