Description:
The Educational Talent Search program is a federally funded TRIO program designed to motivate and support selected 9th-12th grade students to complete high school and enroll in a college or other postsecondary education program.
Students enrolled in the ETS program receive services such as:
- Career Advising
Including: career interest assessment and career exploration, choice and planning.
- Educational Advising
Including: study skills, pre-college curriculum information, college admissions, and college entrance exams
- Financial Aid Advising
Including: assistance in applying for financial aid, grants, scholarships, and loans
- Personal Advising and Referrals
Including: health-related issues, substance abuse prevention, life skills, and other issues that may affect academic performance
Student Activities:
- One on one academic advising
- Group meetings
- Field trips to colleges and cultural events
- Workshops on a variety of topics
Technology-based Services:
- Career information and interest assesments
- College searches
- College applications
- College financial aid searches and applications
Eligibility:
The Educational Talent Search program eligibility guidelines are as follows:
- Students who are potential first generation college students or
- Students with a limited income (150% of federal poverty levels)
Service Area:
Students who attend Springfield Central High School or the High School of Science and Technology
