Senior companions are active older adults who help other adults live independently. Senior Companions provide support to family caregivers. They assist with grocery shopping, medical appointments only if the adult is unable to use other transportation services and other daily tasks necessary to maintaining independence. The Senior Companion Program goals are to help older people remain in their own homes living independently and to provide one on one respite service to main caregivers who are caring for a loved one at home. Senior Companions volunteer 15 to 40 hours per week offering service to the less fortunate elders within their community. Senior Companion volunteers play a vital role in maintaining an elder's independence an quality of life. They offer one on one companionship, socialization opportunities, moral support, information and referral services, transportation and friendship. As a Senior Companion, you will receive:
