Description:

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) offers free tax preparation to low-to moderate income people.  Certified volunteers receive training to help prepare basic tax returns.  The Valley Opportunity Council offers free electronic filing (e-file).  People who take advantage of hte e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper-and even faster if they elect to have their refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts.

Eligibilty:

  • Must be a resident of Massachusetts
  • Individual/Family Income cannot exceed $50,000 annually
  • Cannot assist those who are self-employed or those who have rental income
  • If income was earned from out of state employment or unemployment is received from out of state, we cannot assist
