VITA offers free tax preparation to those of low- to moderate-income residing in Massachusetts. Certified volunteers can help prepare and electronically file basic tax returns at no cost.
Valley Opportunity Council offers free electronic filing (e-file). Those who take advantage of the e-file program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to returns filed on paper – and even faster if they elect to have their refunds deposited directly into their bank accounts.

Eligibility is generally based on income and the type and complexity of the tax return.
Yes. Appointments are required. You can easily schedule online from your phone, tablet, or computer, or give us a call and we’ll help schedule your appointment at one of our four locations.
Include identification, Social Security or ITIN information, income documents, tax forms, and other applicable records.
Volunteer With VITA
Join VOC’s VITA team and help local individuals and families access free tax preparation services. No experience is necessary. We provide all the training you need. Seasonal daytime and evening opportunities are available from January through April at our Chicopee and Holyoke locations.
VOC offers over 30 community programs in a wide variety of areas throughout Hampden County in Western Massachusetts.
VOC and our correspondences are funded with a variety of sources that includes Federal Funds from various departments of the US Health and Human Services, including the Office of Community Services, which are not responsible for or endorse any of the content here.
