youth ages 14-21


Our collaboration with the Hampden County Workforce Board provides a structured, well-supervised work experience for low-income, at-risk youth ages 14-21.


Risk factors strongly considered when selecting youth participants:

  • History of juvenile delinquency, either having the status of “court involved,” in the custody of Department of Youth Services or on Juvenile Court probation
  • Poor academic performance or a school dropout
  • Homeless or a runaway
  • Aged out or close to aging out of foster care
  • The child of a single working parent
  • Have a disability or special needs
  • Lack fluency in English, or a foreign immigrant
  • A teen parent
  • Eligibility

    • Must reside in Chicopee
    • Family income cannot exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty level
    • Participants must be ages 14-21
    • Employment Program participants ages 14-17 must have a valid work permit
    • All Employment Program participants must complete Work Readiness Training once chosen for a position
