VOC operates five child care centers in Holyoke and Chicopee for children ages 1-5. Our goal is to assist parents who are working, in training leading to employment, or have other special needs. We provide a complete education program, meals, opportunities for parent involvement, and after-school care (at Chicopee locations). All Center-Based classrooms are staffed by qualified Early Education teachers.

  • Each center provides a full schedule of age-appropriate activities that promote child development and learning
  • Activities include pre-kindergarten literacy, art, science, math, language development, large motor development and social development
  • Teachers nurture children’s physical, cognitive, language and social-emotional development to ensure they are ready for school
  • All classrooms follow The Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD
  • Nutritious breakfasts, lunches and snacks are served daily
  • Parents are welcome to visit and encouraged to participate in Center activities
  • All Centers adhere to standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children

Vevelin Pabon.jpg

Congratulations Vevelin Pabon, Educator of the Month for December, 2018.

Vevelin Pabon came from Puerto Rico speaking no English and had not set any career goals. Vevelin started with VOC Churchill on 5/21/2012 as a parent volunteer and then moved up to a uncertified substitute teacher. After completing a full year of ESL classes and English classes in order to get into HCC she then completed the Child Growth and Development course at HCC. This enabled Vevelin to become preschool certified teacher with us.

Vevelin continued her education at HCC as a full time student taking classes at night.  Today she is 2 classes away from receiving her AS degree in Early Childhood Education. Vevelin is a person who is always willing to go above and beyond her job responsibilities. She comes in early and stays past her scheduled shift. Vevelin is warm, kind, caring and friendly all the time. She is an exceptional team player. Vevelin always has others in mind when lending a hand without expecting anything in return. If we are short staffed she tries her best to work in other classrooms before even being asked, if there are children who are having difficulties coming in, it takes nothing out of her to step in and help the parent, the child, or her co-workers. Vevelin continues to exceed in many areas, such as educational growth, classroom skills, and team building skills.
